Visual studio 2008 web templates missing

A coworker of mine had the same problem after installing VS Team Suite. He tried the following HotFix and everything is back in place Hope this helps,.

Wayne Larimore. But I would also like to have the templates back in place. I tried all your suggestions but had no success with any of them. All my Web Site templates are still missing. I took a look at that and the existing template documents seem to be correct and there are no event logs in my event viewer. Same issue here. All templates gone when doing create website. I have Team Studio Suite installed and everything was working after that install. I did however just install Team Studio Explorer, and that is when everything went missing. I haven't tried anything that was posted here as of yet due to the fact that none of them have been successful.

I sure hope that someone is looking into this issue. Then I had to do a repair of VS. NET in diagnostics mode, it didn't help. Then I had to copy the template files, then I had to try with Administrator logged in Finally, I checked VS. There the templates appeared. I compared the installation options and found some differences.

I wish it was that simple here. Visual Web Developer is installed and the templates still don't show. I had already had that installed. In fact, it wasn't until after I installed that that I noticed the problem. It definately seems as though there isn't a single cause of this or a single fix for that matter. I just rebuilt a machine to run some tests and was able to reproduce this problem every time. Every time I install the hotfix the Web Site templates disappear and I can't explain it.

As long as I don't install the hotfix I don't see the problem. I need to add new web forms and reports to a system developed with older version VS but when I open it, I can only view the code window and cannot view the design window. Well it seems that I am facing the similar issue after years, but wanted to update my part of solution.

However, I have not installed the hotfix rollup or anything else other than the basic VSTS setup a few months ago. I have no idea how or why those templates disappeared?
